“Turkish Cuisine with Centuries-Old Recipes” Event Attracted Great Interest in Gümüşhane

Organized in cooperation with the Governorship of Gümüşhane and the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, the event titled “Turkish Cuisine with Centuries-Old Recipes” was held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Atatürk Park as part of Turkish Cuisine Week. The program offered participants unforgettable moments with its comprehensive content designed to showcase the cultural richness and local flavors of Turkish cuisine.
The event commenced with a moment of silence and the National Anthem. In their opening speeches, His Excellency Vedat Soner Başer, Mayor of Gümüşhane, and His Excellency Aydın Baruş, Governor of Gümüşhane, emphasized the historical and cultural depth of Turkish cuisine. They also highlighted the role of such events in contributing to cultural promotion at both local and international levels.
Following the opening ceremony, the program was enlivened by traditional folk dance performances, which delighted the audience. At the stands set up after the performances, local products and traditional dishes were introduced, offering guests the opportunity to taste ancient Anatolian recipes and experience the local culinary culture first-hand.
Bringing together gastronomy enthusiasts, the event drew strong interest from public institution representatives, academics, chefs, students, and the local community. In particular, the active participation of international students studying at Gümüşhane University served as a significant element in strengthening cultural exchange. With an attendance of approximately 200–250 people, the event appealed to a wide audience, reinforcing social unity and cultural sharing.
The event was regarded as an important step in promoting Turkish cuisine to broader audiences, preserving traditional recipes, and supporting gastronomy tourism, while also emphasizing the healthy and sustainable dietary principles embedded in Turkish culinary traditions.
In a statement issued by the Governorship of Gümüşhane, it was announced that similar events would continue to be organized in the coming periods with the aim of ensuring that Turkish cuisine gains greater recognition on the global stage.
